Class Descriptions

All of our classes aim to restore peace and calm and clarity.

Some of our classes are more physically vigorous than others but they all cleanse the body, calm the mind and soothe the nerves.

Each of our teachers have various degrees of influence from the Iyengar, Ashtanga, Viniyoga, and Anusara traditions.

Additional influences include John Friend, Shiva Rea, Erich Schiffmann, and Saul David Raye.

There are strands of similarity between all the classes, yet each teacher shares their own authentic expression of yoga.

All classes are considered hatha yoga which has as its basic aim to unite the body (soma) and the mind (psyche) and the seer and the seen.

The classes below are listed in order from most gentle to most physically rigorous.

 

therapeutic yoga – Suitable for new students/beginners through advanced practitioners.
therapeutic yoga class is a carefully designed combination of gentle yoga, awareness exercises, restorative yoga poses, and breath work. these elements are integrated into a class that is suitable for people who are beginning to study yoga, recovering from an injury, who are working with a sustained spinal dysfunction, or anyone who feels they are just too tight to stretch.


gentle yoga - Suitable for new students/beginners through advanced practitioners.
a slow moving class, appropriate for all levels & ages, which emphasizes alignment, meditation and mindfullness. this class is more gentle than our basic level class.

basic yoga- Suitable for new students/beginners through advanced practitioners.

a foundational class for beginning students of any age. the focus is on safe fundamental postures and elementary breath work. if you have not taken yoga before, this is a great class to begin with. 

community class yoga - Suitable for new students/beginners through advanced practitioners.
as a community service, we offer these classes for $10, they are available to anyone on a pay as you go basis or you may use your class series. community classes may be any level you may find them on the printed schedule denoted by an “*” and on our website with the word “community.” These classes are taught by our regular teachers as a way to offer a discount to the community!

Yoga Tune Up ® – Suitable for new students/beginners through advanced practitioners. 
fitness therapy for everyday living. this “whole body” longevity fitness system integrates a blend of innovative sequences derived from classical yoga, calisthenics and body therapy. Designed to tone, stretch and strengthen, as well as regenerate and heal damaged or aging muscle fibers, this unique program is focused on keeping you strong, healthy and active.

pilates mat- Suitable for new students/beginners through advanced practitioners.
learn the fundamentals of pilates floor exercises and the principles of breathing, concentration and coordination in a friendly, supportive environment. this class provides a low-impact workout for people of all ages and health backgrounds.

all levels yoga- Suitable for new students/beginners through advanced practitioners.
a more briskly paced class open to explorative students of all levels. This class is suitable for basic to advanced students.

bhakti flow- 

a heart-centered, moderately paced vinyasa flow class. celebrate, cultivate, and embody the qualities of gratitude, compassion, and joy in your yoga practice.  Each class centers around a theme integrating mantra, chanting, guided imagery, and pranayama to sweeten and deepen your asana practice.


mindful flow 
a dynamic system of practicing asana, linking flowing movement to breath. builds heat, endurance, flexibility, strength and concentration. compared to the other flow classes on the schedule, this class moves slower and you may hold poses a bit longer than the traditional flow classes.  previous experience with yoga is highly recommended.


prana flow 
uniting mind, body and spirit to transcend physical asana and create space for conscious evolution. students of all levels are empowered to experience Prana – breath, life-energy and conscious intelligence with this fully-integrative approach to embodying the flow of yoga cultvated by Shiva Rea and the Global Vinasa Collective of Teachers.


flow 
a dynamic system of practicing asana, linking flowing movement to breath. builds heat, endurance, flexibility, strength and concentration. previous experience with yoga is highly recommended.


intermediate
our most challenging classes are stimulating and intense taught for continuing practioners who wish to explore a full spectrum of asna, pranaymama and meditation. previous experience with yoga is highly recommended. 

Private yoga options:


Thai Yoga Therapy
An ancient healing modality with roots in yoga, ayurvedic medicine and Buddhist spiritual practices. It combines elements of Shiatsu, accupressure, gentle twisting and deep stretching to release tension and increase vitality.

One on one sessions are available for Thai Yoga Therapy with Gabriel by appointment only. (562.818.1468)

Private yoga
All of our teachers are available for private classes at the studio. Private classes are designed to meet your needs, and with your interest in mind. The price of a private class varies depending on the teacher and the length. If you are interested in setting up a private class, please contact us!
