Class Descriptions

All of our classes aim to restore peace and calm and clarity.

Some of our classes are more physically vigorous than others but they all cleanse the body, calm the mind and soothe the nerves.

Each of our teachers have various degrees of influence from the Iyengar, Ashtanga, Viniyoga, and Anusara traditions.

Additional influences include John Friend, Shiva Rea, Erich Schiffmann, and Saul David Raye.

There are strands of similarity between all the classes, yet each teacher shares their own authentic expression of yoga.

All classes are considered hatha yoga which has as its basic aim to unite the body (soma) and the mind (psyche) and the seer and the seen.

basic
a foundational class for beginning students of any age. the focus is on safe fundamental postures and elementary breath work.


all levels
a more briskly paced class open to explorative students of all levels.


intermediate
our most challenging classes are stimulating and intense taught for continuing practioners who wish to explore a full spectrum of asna, pranaymama and meditation. Previous experience is assumed.


flow
a dynamic system of practicing asana, linking flowing movement to breath. builds heat, endurance, flexibility, strength and concentration.


prana flow
uniting mind, body and spirit to transcend physical asana and create space for conscious evolution. students of all levels are empowered to experience Prana – breath, life-energy and conscious intelligence with this fully-integrative approach to embodying the flow of yoga cultvated by Shiva Rea and the Global Vinasa Collective of Teachers.


gentle yoga
a slow moving class, appropriate for all levels & ages, which emphasizes alignment, meditation and mindfullness.


pilates mat
learn the fundamentals of pilates floor exercises and the principles of breathing, concentration and coordination in a friendly, supportive environment. this class provides a low-impact workout for people of all ages and health backgrounds.


ashtanga led
Ashtanga yoga is a system of yoga transmitted to the modern world by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois (1915-2009). This method of yoga involves synchronizing the breath with a progressive series of postures—a process producing intense internal heat and a profuse, purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs. The result is improved circulation, a light and strong body, and a calm mind. In this class the instructor leads the students through the primary series of ashtanga yoga.


ashtanga mysore
This is open practice time in which students are taught the set sequence of ashtanga yoga through one-on-one instruction within a group setting. Taught by KPJAYI authorized teacher aimee echo. no class on new and full moon days. no experience necessary


therapeutic yoga – All Levels
therapeutic yoga class is a carefully designed combination of gentle yoga, awareness exercises, restorative yoga poses, and breath work. these elements are integrated into a class that is suitable for people who are beginning to study yoga, recovering from an injury, who are working with a sustained spinal dysfunction, or anyone who feels they are just too tight to stretch.


Bod Squad
The bod squad is a sensory-based movement class drawing from the disciplines of martial arts, dance arts, and healing arts. Stiff
beginners and highly fit athletes alike can adapt this class to meet their needs and intensity levels. expect to get sweaty and have fun!


kids yoga (3-5 years old)
A playful way to introduce yoga postures, breathing techniques, and focus. we recommend students within these age ranges, yet if scheduling doesn’t permit older kids are welcome

Yoga Tune Up ®
fitness therapy for everyday living. this “whole body” longevity fitness system integrates a blend of innovative sequences derived from classical yoga, calisthenics and body therapy. Designed to tone, stretch and strengthen, as well as regenerate and heal damaged or aging muscle fibers, this unique program is focused on keeping you strong, healthy and active.


community class
as a community service, we offer these classes for $10, they are available to anyone on a pay as you go basis. community classes may be any level you may find them on the printed schedule denoted by an “*” and on our website with the word “community.” This way everyone can get a discount.


Thai Yoga Therapy
An ancient healing modality with roots in yoga, ayurvedic medicine and Buddhist spiritual practices. It combines elements of Shiatsu, accupressure, gentle twisting and deep stretching to release tension and increase vitality.

One on one sessions are available for Thai Yoga Therapy with Gabriel by appointment only.
